The Great Energy Shot Experiement

Things like this are exactly why I created this blog. Stuff I want to do or talk about that just don’t fit into my Social Media and Internet Marketing Blog: Shuaism. This little experiment is the first.
While doing everyday activities like, buying gas, going to the grocery store, and all of that I couldn’t help but notice the plethora of energy shots that have flooded the market. Stacker, Hitman, Nitro, the popular 5 Hour Energy and more. Some even offering 7 or 8 hours of energy… but do they work?
I’ve picked up as many of these as I could. I hit all of the local grocery stores, convenience stores and even the local dollar store to amass the energy shots pictured above and will be conducting the experiment over the next several weeks.
The way this experiment will be conducted is to first establish a control which will be to play the game perfection while deprived of 2 hours sleep, and also while inebriated (just to see the difference). Then each day after only 6 hours of sleep I’ll get up, drink one of those energy shots, and after 20 min play the game and see the results (see below for notes and baseline). My good friend Ryan pointed out that I might get used to where the pieces go and just be able to do it faster. To help combat that I’m going to spin the game before playing to help keep them from always being in the same movements and help lessen muscle and mental memory.
I’ll also be reviewing the shots in an even less scientific manner. My personal take on how they taste, how they feel, and how they stack up against what ever claims are made on the bottle. This will be an on going multi-week ordeal, but in the end I should have an answer to if any of these things truly work or if it’s just modern snake oil.

>6 hours of sleep: Got all but 2 pieces in before it popped
Slightly Inebriated: All pieces in place in 55 sec (Kent witnessed)Note: Perfection is a game where you set the 60 second timer and then push the center piece down. If you don’t stop the timer before the 60 seconds is up it pops up and shoots the pieces out. This was chosen for the hand eye coordination needed, the mental ability to recognize the difference between very similar shapes, and physical ability to quickly put them in place.
Note: This is not very scientific, nor am I stating that it is. It’s mostly for fun, but should still yield some very interesting results.
